Campus Framework Plan
Design: Geographically bounded by Lake Michigan on the East and Evanston’s bustling city center on the West, Northwestern University faces many challenges with regard to campus expansion. The framework plan lays out guidelines for increasing the University’s building capacity while retaining historic green spaces as well as the numerous academic and residential districts. The center of campus is maintained as a pedestrian thoroughfare, highlighting the celebrated open crescent and creating linkages to the surrounding city grid. By partially filling the existing cooling pond and selectively relocating historic buildings, the framework plan efficiently utilizes the space while preserving the character of the campus landscape.
Role: Contributed to the planning and scheduling of consultation meetings with the Evanston Campus Planning Advisory Committee, consultants Sasaki Associates, and the Campus community including a town hall meetings open to the surrounding community. Updated presentation graphics and files and informally participated in advisory meetings on campus planning.
